SEASTAR’s role is to bring the availability of sail training experiences to the attention of interested organizations and participants, to facilitate liaison with the ships, and to assist with the cost of passage. The Society is not involved with the development or delivery of the programs on board which are the responsibility of the ships themselves. The ships also make the decision as to who they will take on the voyage and the details of the arrangements are a matter for the ship and the trainee to work out once the connection is made.

Part of the process of arranging the Program is selecting vessels, from an international pool, that are found to be suitable by SEASTAR for participation in the Program. Once a vessel is reviewed and found suitable by SEASTAR, it will deemed to be a “Profiled Vessel” unless and until its status as a suitable “Profiled Vessel” is revoked by SEASTAR at the sole discretion of the Board.

The Society will request a completed profile from vessels interested in participating. Once completed, profiles will be made available to potential participants who can then decide whether a voyage on that vessel in suitable for them.  The Society is not involved with the development or delivery of the programs on board which are the responsibility of the ships themselves.

Any Organization, vessel, individual or company, submitting a request to SEASTAR to be considered as a SEASTAR PROFILED VESSEL is advised that no one involved with SEASTAR has the knowledge, background or expertise to assess vessels or their programs from a safety, operational or marine expertise perspective.

Organizations, vessels, individuals or companies, submitting a request to SEASTAR to be considered as a SEASTAR PROFILED VESSEL are required to include with their request the completed SEASTAR VESSEL PROFILE INFORMATION FORM along with a photograph of the vessel.
